Panasonic VIERA TC-P54G10 G10 Series Review
I finally convinced my fiancee that we needed to upgrade her old 27 inch CRT in our living room to a new HDTV and after researching for a few months, I came to the conclusion that this was the TV I wanted to replace it with. I have absolutely no regrets on this purchase. The picture is stunning out of the box when hooked up to our DirecTV HD receiver. I haven’t even had to change any of the default settings to adjust the picture settings. I have yet to run a blu-ray movie through it, but my PS3 is hooked up and playing some LittleBigPlanet on it looks twice as nice as playing on my old Sony 52 inch 1080i rear projection set. Sound through the built in speakers is fine, but with a TV like this, you’ll be doing yourself a disservice to not get a set of 5.1 or 7.1 speakers and receiver to fully enjoy your HD. The Viera Cast is a nice little bonus, although watching YouTube videos on such a big screen is really muddy looking. I hope they add in NetFlix streaming to go along with their Amazon rental service built in already. Standard definition tv watching isn’t bad at all once you get use to the filtering/upconverting that the set does. I do wish their was at least one more HDMI and one more component input on the back to hold all my gaming systems and various other accessories I would like to hook up to this TV, but that’s the only knock I have against this fantastic TV. I can’t wait for football season to start!Read the rest of this entry »
Panasonic VIERA TC-P46G10 G10 Series
I find this TV fits my needs perfectly. But no TV is perfect, at least not for the technically savvy.
So here are the cons:
(1) The sound is mediocre. It is fine to watch a TV show, but lackluster to watch a good movie or music show.
(1.2) True Cinema 24-frame mode flickering is perceptually disturbing because the refresh rate is set to 48 Hz in the mode. It is a pitty because motion does look much more life like and less video like in True-Cinema mode. Wish the TV could run at 72 Hz.
(2) The VGA input for PC does not support 1080 HD. It only supports up to 1280×768. Panny should not cut corner here. Although this problem doesn’t really matter for video contents because most computer video resolution is less than 1280×768. And the pixel interpolation effect on the Plasma is more like a CRT and less like an LCD. So the set is reasonably good at displaying contents with resolution lower than its native res. ViewSonic N1630w Good HDTV, Mediocre PC Monitor,
The Viewsonic Model N1630w, is very impressive. The picture is superb hooked up to regular cable and the sound is very impressive for a small tv. I appreciate the quality appearance and engineering. The size of this tv makes it very versatile.
PLUS
- Very good HDTV picture quality – I connect it to my cable and the tuner is smart enough to pickup all ANALOG and UNSCRAMBLED HD channels automatically. Overall HD picture quality is good.
- It has one VGA, one HDMI, one component video, one S-Video and one composite video input – pretty good for a cheap TV.
- NO NEED FOR AC ADAPTER!! The power supply is built-into the TV cabinet.
- Sleep Timer Read the rest of this entry »
Panasonic TC-P50V10 is excellent!
The Panasonic TC-P50V10 Medium range price, but you get your money’s worth with this 1080p. It has one pane of glass design which gives it a premium look. Picture quality and vibrant colors set this TV apart from its competitors. Had been contemplating on the G10 model or this V10 model, and we went with the V10 model (Because of the 96Hz refresh rate). Seeing other flat screens, LCD’s, and Plasmas…they didn’t catch the eye like this one did. We compared them to Samsung’s 52B750 and Sony’s XBR9. Liked the Sony also, but too overpriced, and the quality was on par. Samsung’s picture quality just couldn’t compare. Read the rest of this entry »
Coby TFTV1923 Good TV no matter what the cost
The Coby TFTV1923 I agree with a previous reviewer that the remote must be pointed straight at the LCD light for any remote operation.
The other minor drawback is that the favorite channels have to be accessed through the favorite list menu as the channel up and down buttons will go through all the channels that were picked up during programming, regardless whether or not they were designated as favorites.
When I connected the unit to a HD source with an HDMI cable, I was shocked. The picture is astonishingly good – not “good for a cheap set,” but every bit as impressive as my expensive name brands. Since it will be exposed to temperature extremes and possible condensation – even with a weatherproof cover, I have no idea what it’s lifespan will be. But at this price, it’s demise will be much easier to deal with should it succumb to the elements. I’ve only had it for a few days, but my impression of the unit right out of the box couldn’t be more positive. Read the rest of this entry »
Viore PLC7V95 Great 7″ TV for the price!!!
Viore PLC7V95 The screen is very clear and the picture is pretty impressive for a 7″ TV. You can also watch movies from an SD card or USB drive which makes this unit very functional. I was able to find about 12 channels with the external antenna and I was very surprised at how well this piece worked. It isn’t going to replace a much larger TV but if you want something that is portable to watch while you are cooking, grilling, etc. this is a great unit.
Pros: Good picture and sound. Plays DTV and other Media. Unit allows for software upgrades so the company can constantly improve the functionality. Antenna cord is fairly long and has a magnetic mount. When there is nothing on TV you can always watch other media via USB or SD card.
Now here are the cons. Battery life is only about 1½ hours and there is no way to tell how much charge is on the battery. The USB port is a mini port that requires an adapter (included) to plug a USB stick into the unit. While the unit does come with a kick stand there is no way to mount it to a tripod or base. The unit only comes with an AC adapter so if you want to charge it in your car you need to buy a DC adapter.
Overall it’s a good little TV/Media Player for around $100. Read the rest of this entry »
Eviant T7 Emergency information Review
Needed a replacement battery operated TV that would receive OTA digital signals. This is Florida and it’s Hurricane season.
The Eviant T7 measures 7.3″x 1.1″x 5.7″ and weighs about 1.39 pounds. The unit has a built-in rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery, built-in speakers, AC, six-button remote control, and it comes with a protective carrying pouch.
This TV has a crystal clear picture and I do not have a problem with the sound at all. It picks up all available local channels plus a bunch I never heard of, even on cable. I get around 15 or so, plus one radio channel. I’m only using the telescoping antenna, but it does come with an additional one if needed.
The unit was easy to set-up and operate with ATSC/NTSC tuner identifying 12 stations using the rod antenna. The quality of the picture is excellent, although the sound quality is “tinny” and, at best, only adequate. Amazon’s price for the unit, customer service and shipping
promptness was outstanding! Read the rest of this entry »
Samsung LN40B530 Excellent tv for ANYONE!
Samsung LN40B530 this is my 2nd LCD and the picture quality is amazing! With 60,000:1 contrast ratio, the colors just POP and make everything look realistic. Standard definition picture quality is good(i.e. standard cable), but HD quality is amazing. My last set was a philips and the colors on people’s faces didn’t quite look realistic but this samsung, everything looks realistic. The picture settings out of the box are pretty good but with a little adjustment(you can find calibration settings online) the PQ is amazing. The only compliant I have with this TV is the sound which is more than acceptable though.
if you dot’n calibrate the tv use the movie setting as its the clesest to what it should be.
can’t go wrong getting this and I have not seen any motion artifacts with this tv. Read the rest of this entry »
Samsung LN19B650 CHARCOAL not Red TV
Samsung LN19B650 The LCD panel sits on a clear stalk which attaches to a nice oval base with a swivel-tabbed screw. No tools needed. It then fits into the hole in the base of the LCD and it can be tilted front to back. Since we use it in the kitchen, we have it tilted back. The swivel is stiff at first but it works well and tilts a few degrees off the vertical back and forward. When it’s first attached, it appears to tilt forward so just firmly hold the base and push the monitor back.
The sound when set to Standard mode can seem a little tinny but it’s better in Movie mode. The picture always needs to be adjusted at first since the standard settings are always too bright and too saturated. Reducing the contrast and the color setting helps produce a more natural picture. The tone is set to Warm2 but I find setting it to Normal works better. There are lots of ways to tweak the picture and the sound to achieve pleasing results. Read the rest of this entry »
